NAR Code of Ethics

Do I Need to Take Code of Ethics?

Yes. Any licensee who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® must complete Code of Ethics. This also includes practicing appraisers.

How Often Must I Take It?

The National Association of REALTORS® requires all members to take Code of Ethics training every three years.

When is the Deadline?

The current cycle is from January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2021, meaning the last day for completion is 12/31/21.

*REALTORS® who join the Association after January 1, 2019 and attend New Member Orientation have already fulfilled their Code of Ethics training requirement.

What Happens If I Don’t Take Ethics by the Deadline?

If you fail to complete Code of Ethics by 12/31/21. The following will occur:

  • You will no longer be able to use the term REALTOR® in business transactions or on advertising
  • You will be considered an “Inactive” member with WSRAR
  • You will lose access to MLS
